Water Cycle.
The water cycle, also called the hydrologic cycle, is the Earth's amazing system for continuously moving water around. It's like a giant recycling plant for water! Here's a breakdown of the main steps:
Evaporation: The sun heats up water in oceans, lakes, rivers, and even soil. This warm water changes into water vapor, a gas that rises into the atmosphere. Plants also release water vapor through their leaves in a process called transpiration.
condensation : As the water vapor rises, it cools down and condenses around tiny particles in the air, forming clouds.
Precipitation: When enough water vapor condenses in the clouds, the water droplets or ice crystals become too heavy and fall back to Earth as rain, snow, hail, or sleet.
Once precipitation falls, it can either:
Infiltrate: Soak into the ground and become groundwater.
- Runoff: Flow over the land surface as streams and rivers, eventually reaching
The Cycle Continues: The water that has infiltrated the ground can eventually seep back into rivers, lakes, and oceans, or be taken up by plants and released back into the atmosphere through transpiration. The water in the oceans, lakes, and rivers eventually evaporates again, restarting the cycle.
